Time Saving Tips For…
Logging into your website
How do I log into my website as a Site Content Editor (SCE)?
For kzoo.edu websites: https://www.kzoo.edu/wp-login.php
For blogs.kzoo.edu: https://blogs.kzoo.edu/wp-login.php
For department websites: https://yoursubdomain.kzoo.edu/wp-admin (i.e your URL followed by /wp-admin)
Learning how to use WordPress
What is the best way to learn WordPress?
- To support SCEs we offer one-on-one trainings, group trainings, or you can reference instructional documentation on this website to navigate WordPress at K. If needed, we can also provide custom instructional documentation as well.
- Note: We do not use the “out of the box” WordPress settings and access but instead, provide a custom editing experience for the College. With that said, it is better to gain instruction from this website as opposed to using Google to search for WordPress instruction from outside sources.
Why can’t I upload a PDF to my website?
PDFs cannot be uploaded by SCEs. Instead, you must submit your PDF to Web Services (WebServices@kzoo.edu) for an accessibility review first. If it passes the accessibility check then Web Services will upload the document to your Media Library on WordPress. From there you can link to the document by using the URL provided in your Media Library.
How do I add a table to my page? I don’t see the table block anywhere…
There are some blocks and plugins that can be added to your website by request. These blocks and/or plugins are not be available right away because they may require training or further instruction. Blocks available upon request are:
- Table block
- Visualizer plugin
- Workflow extension
Fixing your broken links
To maintain the quality for our websites at K, Site Content Editors (SCEs) must fix broken links on a regular basis. To do so, SCEs can use the Broken Link Checker.
Note: This checker does not report misspellings so SCEs will need to fix grammatical errors when editing pages and before publishing.
Using forms on your website
How do I add a form to my website?
SCEs use forms for a variety of reasons at K. Whether it’s to host an event, send a survey, or more, SCEs can use Gravity Forms to build a unique form, collect information, and export submission entries. Check out the overall process to Gravity Forms along with additional instruction.
I need someone to gather all of the entries from my form. How can I give them access to do that?
SCEs that have the role of a Designer or Editor may export entries and add, edit, and export a form. For people that you do not want/need them to have full website editing access, but just need to export form entries, we can assign them the role of Form Manager and provide them with instruction or train them via Teams.
Learn more about:
How do I set up an email to alert me when someone has submitted my form?
Through Gravity Forms, SCEs can configure notifications to send an email to their inbox with the desired submission details.
