Summary
Every website has the option to add a footer between page content and the College footer that will appear on every page of your site. This page provides instruction on editing a footer.
Page Content
What is a Footer?
A website’s footer is the area located at the bottom of every page on a website, below the main body content. You’ll notice on every Kalamazoo College website there is a black footer at the bottom of every page. It includes the College address and general contact information and other relevant links.
SCEs with a WordPress role of “Designer” also have an optional intermediate footer that when added, will appear between page content and the College footer. Once set up, the footer will appear on every page of your site.
Note: WordPress role “Designer” is required in order to edit the footer.
How to Edit Your Footer
- From your dashboard left side menu, select Appearance > Widgets.
- To get started, select the toggle block inserter icon near the top toolbar.
- From the left side of the screen, your block library will appear. You can choose any of these blocks to add to your Sidebar. The “Text” block is most common.
- On the middle of the screen, you’ll expand the Footer area by selecting the arrow.
- You can add widgets to the Footer by dragging them from the left side and dropping them on the Footer area. We recommend limiting the number of Footer groups to 4 or less.
- Like with all blocks, use the right sidebar for more settings specific to the block you have chosen.
- Once saved, the footer area widgets will appear automatically on your site.
Tip
Do you want more than one block per column on your footer? Use the group block to segment blocks together!
