What is a Footer?
A website’s footer is the area located at the bottom of every page on a website, below the main body content. You’ll notice on every Kalamazoo College website there is a black footer at the bottom of every page. It includes the College address and general contact information and other relevant links.
SCEs with a WordPress role of “Designer” also have an optional intermediate footer that when added, will appear between page content and the College footer. Once set up, the footer will appear on every page of your site.
Note: WordPress role “Designer” is required in order to edit the footer.
How to Edit Your Footer
- Visit your site’s dashboard.
- Navigate to Appearance > Widgets.
- Scroll down to the Footer widget area and click to expand it. This will reveal any existing blocks in your footer.
- Click the footer widget to expand it. This will reveal any existing blocks in your footer and a + block inserter icon to add new blocks
- Add and edit the blocks in your footer. Like with all blocks, use the right sidebar for more settings specific to the block you have chosen.
- Note: Each individual block added to your footer will create a new column. If you want more than one block per column on your footer be sure to use the group block to segment blocks together.
- We recommend limiting the number of Footer groups to 4 or less.
- Click Update in the top right corner to save your changes. Once saved, the footer area widgets will appear automatically on your site.
Tip
