Unlike most other K websites, your personal website at blogs.kzoo.edu allows you to customize colors, select your header image, and add/edit different menu options. Most of these customizations will be available from the “Appearance” menu of your Dashboar.

Change Your Blog Title or Tagline

By default, your blog title will be your name with a placeholder “tagline,” but you can edit both of these from the “Appearance: Customize” menu.

  1. Log in to your blogs.kzoo.edu website.
  2. Click Appearance and then select Customize on your Dashboard menu.
  3. Click Site Title & Tagline and enter your new Title & Tagline. You can opt to leave either blank, if desired
    • Optionally, uncheck “Display Header Text” to remove your site title & tagline altogether.
  4. Click Save & Publish to submit your changes.

Choose a Color Scheme

WordPress makes it easy to have a well-designed, coordinated website with its options of color schemes. While you won’t be able to change individual word colors on posts or pages, you can choose what the overall color scheme for your site will be.

  1. Log in to your blogs.kzoo.edu website.
  2. Click Appearance and select Customize on your Dashboard menu.
  3. Click Colors and select the “Color Scheme” you prefer. You can also choose the “Header Text Color” which is the color of your website title and tagline.
  4. Click Save & Publish to submit your changes.

*Note: You may want to chose your color scheme after selecting a header image, so that your scheme fits best with your header image.

Select a Header Image

Your header image appears at the top of your blogs.kzoo.edu space, and can make a bold statement about the topic of your website. You can either choose one of the default banners available, or upload a custom one of your own.

  1. Log in to your blogs.kzoo.edu website.
  2. Click Appearance and then select Header on your Dashboard menu
  3. In this “Header Image” screen, you can select an image from your desktop (click Choose File to upload)
    • Or, if you choose, you can select one of the “Default Images” already uploaded to blogs.kzoo.edu.
    • Once you have chosen a header image, scroll to the bottom of the “Header Image” screen and click Save Changes.
